Manuel Pellegrini believes he has beaten off competition from Manchester United, Barcelona and Real Madrid to capture the Juventus midfielder with City set to pay the Frenchman more than £200,000 a week. (The Sun)Manchester United will beat Arsenal to the signing of midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin. Southampton have accepted a bid of £20m from United, rising to £25m depending on the player’s success at Old Trafford, and a deal is close to being completed. (Daily Star)Manchester United’s £35million bid for Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has been rejected. United are now set to make a revised bid and are ready to offer Ramos a deal worth £7.8m to move to Old Trafford. (Daily Mail)Real Madrid have already lined up a  replacement for Ramos should the defender leave for United. Valencia’s Argentine centre-back Nicolás Otamendi is their top target. Although the centre-back position has not been one that City have been looking at primarily, the club are keen on 27-year-old Otamendi and are monitoring his situation. The highly-rated striker, 18, has already won an international cap and is expected to cost around £500,000. The Reds are expected to return to Aston Villa within the next few days with a £25m-plus offer for Christian Benteke.
