IRISH FORESTS NOT FOR SALE – SENATOR HARTE

first_imgToday’s decision not to sell of harvesting rights on Irish forests shows the public interest has been put first, Senator Jimmy Harte has said.“The government has decided after an extended period of consulting with interested groups not to proceed with the sale of Coillte’s harvesting rights. This is decision is in the public interest, and people can know that public access to forests is secured for generations to come.“While the government needs to raise revenue for investment in jobs and stimulus, our forests must be declared not for sale, and with today’s decision by Minister Howlin they can be declared safe in public ownership,” he said. He commended Minister Howlin for this decision.“The decision not to sell off Coillte harvesting rights shows the value of Labour in government, protecting this vital publicly-owned asset,” he added.   IRISH FORESTS NOT FOR SALE – SENATOR HARTE was last modified: June 19th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:CoillteforestsSenator Jimmy Hartelast_img read more
