Report: Iman Shumpert Requests Trade From Cavaliers

first_img Related TopicsIman Shumpert Don’t be surprised to see Shumpert traded before the start of the season. With J.R. Smith, Kyle Korver, Derrick Rose,  Kay Felder and Jose Calderon all taking up a spot in the current guard collection in Cleveland, Shumpert finds himself as the odd man out following his spotty perfomance during the 2016-17 season. The 2017-18 Cleveland Cavaliers are going to have by far one of the newest looks that the team has had in quite some time. For the first time in seven seasons, Kyrie Irving will not be donning the Wine and Gold. Instead, Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder will be the newest additions to the Cavs following the trade that sent Irving to the Boston Celtics. Now another member of the team is requesting a change of scenery. That player would be guard Iman Shumpert. Shumpert ireportedly asked for a trade after the season came to a close and the team has been trying to move the former New York Knick,. Dave McMenamin of ESPN said this regarding the Shumpert trade situation via NBC Sports.“Lost in the attention surrounding Irving’s trade request is that Iman Shumpert also requested a trade after the season, multiple sources told ESPN. Cleveland was in talks to trade Shumpert and his $10.3 million contract to Minnesota or Houston, but both deals fell apart. Logic would tell you that the Cavs will remain motivated to find a team to take Shumpert.”The Vertical’s Shams Charania had a different insight on the situation, though ultimately still confirming the Cavs will look to ship Shumpert elsewhere.
